Pre-Historic Drawing For this project we drew an outline of a pre-historic animal and scanned them onto the computer. We then opened them in Adobe Illustrator and played around with the live trace. We also opened them in Photoshop and played around with the threshold. Threshold is pretty much the same thing as the live trace, it just has fewer options. Roxy had us do both to feel the differences. The only thing I would change about this project is I would not do as many photos in Adobe Illustrator. It seemed a bit overboard to do five there and only one with threshold in Photoshop. I would spread them out and maybe do two or three for each of the different programs. Seven photos seems a bit excessive but I did learn how to use live trace and threshold through this project.

For the stop motion animation project, we were required to break into partners and create an intro, a series of pictures, and the credits. My partner was Kaylie Evans. We chose to do a music video of the song Imaginary, written by Evanescence. At first in the beginning of the project I was getting really stressed out because I had made it way too complicated. There was going to be videos and layers of computer animation over the pictures and a lot of crazy things that I had absolutely no idea how to even start. Once my partner and I put our heads together and really thought about what we were doing, we cut some of the more difficult parts and made this project a lot easier for both of us. Eventually we reached the point when we each had our pieces and we needed to split up. Her project will be complely different from mine, with only the same pictures and music as me. Overall, I think this project was a success and I feel like I learned a lot from this.

I believe art is the strongest vehicle for communication. It expresses what the artist is feeling while sometimes making the viewer feel something different. People understand each other through art, and can show others emotions through the art piece even if they arent the artist. Art is a waterspout of emotions and means many different things to each person. Art depends completely on what the viewer sees. Even if the artist is trying to express one thing in it, the idea may come accross as something completly different. If you are the artist and you want the viewer the feel a certain emotion, you need to think about what would make the viewer feel that emotion. If you understand what the veiwers feel you will have the most effective book cover. Click here to read my full story. |
