Guía de Supervivencia
For this project we were required to pick a country and research it. My partner and I chose to research Equatorial Guinea which is a very small spanish speaking country located on the West side of Africa. We then had to write a survival guide to our country. This included a cover page, a table of contents, and introduction, five possible scenarios, a maps section, and lastly, a bibliography. The final Survival Guide is provided below. The next step was to choose one scenario with our partner and expand on it until it was twice as long and had stage directions, props, and was fully memorized. These skits were performed at the all-school exhibition in front of the parents, students, and teachers that chose to show up to watch.
Paragraph 2: What did you learn about your country from your research?
The research for the survival guide was difficult because we chose such a small country, but it was also made more creative, interesting, and exciting because we chose to do a challenge extension. This challenge extension was to have one theme throughout all of our scenarios, and we chose to write about being a suspect for the murder of the president. I learned about their position on the continent and how importing goods is expensive so they are never cheap in the stores.
Paragraph 3: What other positives came from the project? I had never thought about this before, but I never thought that spanish would be spoken in Africa. Now I know, I am not surprised, but I learned much by this. I also learned more about writing and speaking in spanish, though it was very nerve-wracking to speak in front of people so I forgot some of my lines. A challenge I also had to work through was working through writing all of my scenarios about being a suspect in the murder of the president. Overall I am satisfied with my results.
